DEVELOPMENT OF NELSON PARK
The hope that the passing of this legislation would be of beneficial result to the couneil in eonnection with the development of Nelson Park, and to the citizens of Hastings generally, was expressed by the under-secretary c f the Department of Internal Affairs, in a letter received by the Hastings Borough Couneil last evening, advising that legislation had now been passed removing rest-rictions on Nelson Park, in accordanee with the desires of the couneil. The Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, said that early in the New Year, the couneil was hopeful of extending the facilities and would proeeed with the ereetion of stands when the opportunity presented itself. "When this work is completed, I feel that Nelson Park will be as good a sports-ground as any in New Zealand," . he added.
