Maraetotara―Waimarama

The December meeting of the Ma* raetotara-Waimarama Women's Institute was held at Mrs. Guy Allan's home5 Waimarama, Mrs. Eliiott presidmg over the meeting. it was proposed that a dai;ce should be held on New Year's Eve in the Waimarama Hall, and the annual bazaar at the beach on January 14. Mrs. G. Allen gave her Golden Thread talk on the customs of France, which was most interesting. Mrs. Eliiott tlien introduced Mr. Ciark, of Hastings, who gave a most delightful demonstration on tlie making of a bridesmaid's bouquet which, when linished, was most artistic, Mrs. Clark aiso showed a bride's bouquet which she had brought with her. She gave members many useful hints on fiower decorations and the preserving of cut flowers. Mrs. Stewart thanked Mrs. Clark on belialf of the members for the demonstration and talk which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. "Hints on summer salads" was the roll call for the month, many useful suggestions being given. There was a good collection oi produce, etc., from members ior the Hawke's Bay Children's Home. The covered coat-hanger competition was won by Mrs. King, Miss Gilray being second. The flower competition, the best carnation, was won by Miss Edgecombe, Mrs. G. Allan oeing secr oiid. Mrs. Clark kindly judged the competitions.
