Switzerland and Austria Will Not Emulate Italy GERMAN JUBILATION

The Daily Telegraph's Berne correspondent says that, after a discussion on Italy5s withdrawal from the_ League, the Swiss Federal Council decided that Switzerland must preserve neutrality a f all costs, but there is no question at present of leaving the League, It is believed that, while remaining a member, Switzerland will not hesitate to press i for any further concessions regarding , terms of membership if these are considered necessary to the preservation of > absolute neutrality in the light of the new situation. It is authoritatively Btated in Yienna., ; that Austria has no intention of withdrawing from the League. The Daily Telegraph's Rome corres pondent states that the Press continues 1 to rejoice at Italy's departure. The Popolo d'ltalia says that Italy's gesture Of repudiation sigfials the breaking-up of the Leagtie altogether. The poet Gabriete d'Annunzio sent a message to Mussolini: "There has never been such a complete victory as Italy's leaving the League. You have nothing to fear and never will have anything tp fear." A Berlin message says that the title "League of Nations" has praetically disappeared from the newspapers, as if by higher orders. The descriptions inOlUde "The synthetic Child of Yersaille»s" and "The corpse in Europe's house that nobody will bury."
