(British Official Wireless.)

(Received 15, 8.45 a.m.) RUGBY, Dec. 13. Replying to a question in the House of Commons as to whether he was aware of the statement published in the Gov-ernment-controlled Italian Press that Britain intends to annex the Azores Islands, which are now Portuguese territory, the Foreign Minister, Mr. Anthony Eden, said: "I am aware of the publieation of the statement. but I am confident it will be everywhere appreciated that no significance need be attached to statements of this nature because they are entirely devoid of foundation. In my view, publications of this kind only do harm to the people who make them." ^ /
