NOT A SWIMMING RECORD

"PreBa Association.)

(By Telegraph-

DUNEDIN, This Day. A claim from Auckland tliat ifcfae time of Imin. 16secs. recorded by Kathleen Grey in the 110 yards women' s swim was three-fifths of a second f aster than that recorded by Islay Purdie, of Dunedin, is not substantiated by facts. Miss Purdie actually swam the distance, not only in Dunedin, but also at Auckland, in f aster time than tliat recorded by the Aucklander. Miss Purdie5 s record for the 110 yards is 73secs. and she has beaten 76secs. on several occasions. At Auckland, in March last, Miss Purdie, who is seventeen, swam 110 yards in 7'3secs.
