NAPIER R.S.A. EXECUTIVE MEETS

The executive of the Napier branch of the Returned Soldiers ' Association held its monthly meeting on Monday. The president, Mr E. H. T. Dunn, wajf in the chair, and there were also present Messrs G. B. Menziea, hon. secretary, T. C. Barry, J. D. Bowland, J. Brock, G. C. Breen, C. B. Ferguson, H. Ihilton, G. Lawlor, F. Melhuish and J. Snaddon. It was decided that this branch of the association make a donation towards the reinstatement of the South African War Memorial. It is weillcnown that at the time of the earthquake the head of the figure on the monument disappeared and has not yet been replaced. This committee feel that in giving a lead, others will contribute towards this necessary replacement. It is also hoped that the South African Vetcrans will assist, and any donation will be gratefully acknowledged by the hon. secretary, Mr G. B. Menzies, Box 239, Napier. Many applications for Christmas cheer were placed before the committee and dealt with sympathetically. Approximately £75 will be expended this Christmas. It is the committee 's wish that this Christmas will be a happy oue to all returned soldiers and their families.
