LEARNING TO SWIM
Instruction at Napier Girls' High School Dealing with swimming instruction in her report to the Napier SeconAary Education Board's monthly meeting last evening, Miss D. M. Artliur, principal of the Girls' High School, said that girls who can'not swim have been given special coaching. Special attention has been given throughout the year to lifesaving, interest in whieh has been greatly encouraged by the donation to the school of a silver cup by Mr "W. Eaymond. Every form presented a team in land drill. During this week nine girls have qualifled for their intermediate and bronze medallion, wliile twenty-two will have completed their test by Saturday. One first-class instructor's badge has been won and three more girls will compete for it this week. Four are trying for their awarded merit certificates and two for their elementary life-saving certificates. It is very encouraging to find that the girls have taken such a keen interest in this work, and Miss Clark and some of the senior girls have worked hard to instruct tliem."
