(Eeceived 14, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, Dec 13. Mr Anthony Eden, Foreign Minister, divulged in the House of Commons, after a question by Major Attlee, Leader of tbe Opposition, tbat the British and United States Governments were conferring regarding the attacks on ships in China. After detailing the occurrences and podnting out that the Japanese had apolcgised and promised a full inquiry, Mr Eden requested members not to ask further questions at the present stage in view of the gravity of the situation. (Received 15, 12.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 13. It is indicated that the Unitr%\States and Britain are working in close understanding. Sir Eonald Lindsay, British Ambassador, called at the office of the State Department and had a "brief conferenee. British co-operation has apparently called out Congressional comment from Anglophobes. Senator Eeynolds assailed Britain with trying to get the United States to "pull chestnuts out of the fire from China" and demanded an immediate withdrawal of all naval forces and troops from' the Orient. Senator Borah demanded information as to whether the Panay was remo^ing refugees or patrolling Standard Oil tankers on the Yangtse. Despite Admiral Yarnell's messago that only five from the Panay are not accounted for, later advice' indicated that only nine of the Americans aboard are definitely accopnted for. Others of the estimated 65 or 70 may have reached places of safety, but it has been reported that there have only been seven picked up, and it said that two others are safe ashore. Eeports that 54 survivors had reached Hoshien safely are not confirmed.
