WELLINGTON MUSICIANS GIVE PROGRAMME AT B.M.S. CONCERT

A musical treat was given the mem bers of the Hastings branch of the British Musie Society at their final concert of the season last evening when the programme was presented by Madame Evelyn de Mauny (piano), M. Leon de Mauny (violin) and Mr Claude Tanner (violin-cello), of Wellington. Through the- courtesy of Mrs Selwyn Chambers, it was made possible to hold the concert in the sp'acious lounge of the Hawke 's Bay Women Js Serviee Club, where lovely flowers were attractively arranged. Tall vases were filled with delphinium spikes in all shades of blue, while in the smaller bowls were flowers in pink shades. Before the programme commenced Dr. K. E. Crompton, the society 's president, spoke of the coming departure of Miss G. Grant, secretary, who leaves early in the New "Year for a trip to Fngland. Miss Grant has .been the sec-rc-'ary since the society began in Hastings, and Dr. Crompton spoke with gratitude and appreeiation of all tnt wcrk she had done. Mrs Selwyn Chambers then presented her with a lovely bouquet. Tne programme presented was a partifularly iine one, and the very hearty app'ause which the artists received after tach item, showed that they were geuuinely appreciated by the audieirce.
