PORT AHURIRI TOWNSWOMEN HOLD MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Port Ahuriri Towiiswomen 's Guild was held in Gt. Andrew 's Hall, Mrs Oameron presiding over a good attendance. A very warm welconye was extended to visitors from the Napier and Hastings guilds. iirs Dorset (secretary) sent in her resignation, which was accepted with regret. The financial statement was given by the trea'surer, and proved most satisfactory. It was decided to hold the children 's party ii* the af ternoon of Saturday, December IS, instead of the evening. Nominations i'or the 1938 eommittee were called for. The roll-call, "Summer drinks, " resulted in more fines than recipes. A play-reading, "Muffins for tea," by Mesdames Barnett and O'Halloran, was thoroughly enjoyed. The demonstration for the afternoon was cake-decorating by Mrs Goldfinch. This was Eeenly followed by uiembers and proved very instructive, many good hints being given, Afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs O'Halloran gave a humorous recitation. On the proposal of Mrs Cameron, a vote of thanks was conveyed to botli demonstrator and the entertainers. The fruit-cake competition, judged by Mrs Go'ldfinch, resulted: Mrs Wright 1, Mrs McCarthy 2. The trading stall did good business under the capable hands of Mesdames McCarthy and Mitchell. The final meeting of the year then closed.
