Takapau Gathering
The monthly meeting of the Takapau Women 's Institute was held in the public hall, Mrs W. B. White, president, presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs D. Campbell, Poukawa, president of the Northern Hawke 's Bay Federation, asked for the support of members for the antique display to be held in April at Waipukurau in aid .of the federation funds. She then presented Mrs W. Jackson, seniort with a gold serviee badge and bouquet from th.6 members of the Takapau Institute. In making the presentation Mrs Campbell stiessed the good work and the help Mrs Jackson had given as a member of the executive council and expressed regret that she thought it necessary to retire for health reasons. Mesdames H. Coleman and W. Dinwiddie (Napier) gave talks on the work of tlie Hawke 's Bay Children 's Homes, and thanked the Takapau Institute for the support accorded, including donations of 130 dozen eggs and parcels of Christmas gifts and^Toys recently forwarded; Letters of thanks wer6 received from the dental clinie and from the health camp authorities, for donations of two guineas each, and from the institute headquarters for a donation of five guineas for the endowment fund. A bloom display and competition was won as follows: — Mrs W. Jackson (Japanese iris), and Mrs J. Thomson (Oriental poppy) (equal) 1, Mrs W. B. White (geranium) 2, Mrs W. B. White (rose) 3. A bouquet was presented to Mrs D. Campbell, on behalf of the Takapau Institute, by the president. Mrs W. B. White. Health germs were sent to Mrs A. J. Campbell and Mrs C. Olsen. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames W. Jackson, R. McNab, A. Maekie and Miss Craig.
