REMINDERS
The big attraction for Napier 's Mardi Gras is a bathing ibeauty contest, to be held on Boxing Day at ■% p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Sound Shell, Marino Parade, Napier. The first prize is £50 cash and the title of "Miss New Zealand." Nine other valuable cash prizes are offered ranging from £20 to £2 10/-. The contest will be judged'by three independent outside judges, one lady and two gentlemen, whose decision will be absolutely final. Entries have been received from Palmerston North, Gisborne and Napier, and would-be cntrants are advised to lodge their applications early as entries inay be limite.d. All details may be obtained from tho secretary, Marlcet street, Napier, or P.O. Box, 307, Napier. The warm we'ather now having settled in, patrons of the seaside have been patronising the beaches in great numbers. Huge crowds have been visiting Haumoana, and to-morrow (Sunday) should see a still greater number as the Hastings Citizens' Band will render a programme of musie during the afternoon. This should prove a big attraction, and should help to make a most pleasant afternoon by the seaside. A colleetiou will be made for the band funds. ; Miss Nancy Crompton has taken over the Blue Bird Florist business in the Masonic buildings, Napier. Miss Crompton has, until recently, .been associated with the St. George Floral Studios, Wellington.
