Control of Nelson Park AMENDING LEGISLATION By a section of the Local Legislatiou Bill, which has been passed by tho House of Eepresentatives, according to advice received by the Hastings Borough Council from Mr E. L. Ooillen, M.P., the right of the council to loase Nelson Park, or to make charge for ad. mission direet, ii perpetuated. Originally the authorising legislation continued only until the securities for the unpaid balance of purchase money had been redeemed. Section 29 of the same Bill legalises the payments made. by the Napier Borough Council to Councillor C. D, Cox, as agent for the Government Tourist Bureau and caneels any consequent disqualification from retaining office as a member of the council, Under section 32 of the Bill the "farm-hand" roll for the Taradale Town District signed on October 10, 1935, is deemed to have come into force on April 1, 1934, and no sooner. Section 42 of the Bill empowers the Hawke's Bay Eivers Board to pay out of its general account the sum of £250 as a compassionate allowance to the widow of the late Mr Philip J. Scullin, forjuerly overseep for the board. ,
