. .. . .v ueppi. ■ , Beach Cottage Damaged Owing to the prompt action of a bueket brigade, led by a member of the Hastings Fire Brigade, Fireman S. Nesbitt, a four-rooiped cottage at Haumoana, which caught fire yesterday afternoon, was saved from complete destructjon. Although part of the cottage was badly damaged, and moat of the personal effects of the occupiers lest, the fire was extinguished by the volunteers before the buildiug was burned out. The dwelling was owned by Mrs 8. L. Cox, of Hastings, and occupied by Mr and Mrs Bell, The occupiers had no insurance upon their property, which was badly damaged, but there was a small insurance on the building.
