Minister Suffers Painful Injury

CHEIiSTCHUECH, Last Night, An extreinely painfal injury to a finger did not prevent the Hon. E. Bemple from carrying out his inspection of the southern part of the South Island main trunk railway copstruction work tq-day, • When tlie MinisteriaU P&rty was leaving the piotor car to inspect som«> work just north of Parnassus, a im« ger of Mr Semple's left hand was caught in the hinge of the front door of the car as it wae slammed shut and the bone above the top joint was. badly crushed. Mr Semple proceeded with the inspection, and it was not until a visit had been paid to the Hawkeswood cutting that he was prevailed upon to have the finger dressed, A resident nurse at the railway camp gave first aid, but the Minister wae obviously in considerable pain all day. On his return to Christchurch early in the evening, Mr Semple had his injury attended to by a doctor.
