Blenheim Bathes with Cockabuflies

(Bj Telegrapb-

BLENHEIM, Last Night. Cockabulliea are again on the menu for Blenheim householders, whether they want them or not. On Tuesday a Maxwell road resident reported that pieces of fish flesh arriyed in his bath by way of the borough water suppiy, and an Eltham road householder haa his lawn sprinkler blocked by a cockabully as big as his little finger. This district suffered an invasion from the fish two or three years agp, and the residents concerned are rather alarmed at the prospect of a similar position occurring again. When the matter was referred to the borough engineer he said he could not understand how the fish were finding their wa y into the pipes. He described the intricate system of fine mesh screens in the filter chamber at the headworks, and said it would be impossible for anything of that nature to pass through theim. The only explanation that he could imagine was that the pipes below the intake, which follow down the riverbed for a distance of from 10 to 15 chains, had been damaged to such an extent that water wae flowing into them unrestrictedly. The engineer commented that the position was one to cause concern, and every possibe step would be taken to trace the cause and remedy matters.
