WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Ohurakura — Te Pohue As December is this institute's birthday month, members journeyed over to Te Waka, and had a very enjoyable picnic in the bush. A stop was made at Mr McRobbie's for cherries, which were very welcome. After a picnic luncheon in the bush a short meeting was held, and tbe party then proceeded to Mrs Ruddenldau's beautiful home, where an enjoyable afternoon was spent in hunting for hidden treasures, piaying games and running races. Mrs Euddenklau was hostess, and served a sumptuoas afternoon tea, and ice-eream was enjoyed in the garden. During tea the birthday cake. which was made by Mi*3 Atkins and iced by Mrs Allan Elliott, was cut, and pieces were handed round. Institute members read an amusing play entitled. "The domestic help problem. ' ' Mrs Hugh, acting-president, presented the points prizes for the last six months, Mrs McRobbie winning the Dampney Cup, with Mrs Hankin a very close second; Mrs King and Mrs Lopdell tied for third place. The happy day concluded with a hearty vote of thanks lo Mrs Rudden- ' klau.
