WELLINGTON, Last Night, The Unemployment returns for November 20, 1937, including those on the register who are for health or otlier reasons, unfit for employment, discloses a reduction of i6,19l as against the corresporiding figtrre for November 21, 1936. The" reduction Compared with the figures for October last is 3406. The details are: — Eegistered, but not on relief, 985; oii SUstenance awaiting placement, 6468; on scheme No. 5 relief, 3823; total, 11,276. The number oh sustenance, totally uftfifc for employment for health or* otheY reasons, but beiiig afForded relief from the Employment Promotion Fund, is 8000. For the four-weekly period under review the ekp'enditure from the fund Under the heading "promotion of enlployment" as distinct from relief expCnditure, is estimated at £206,959.
