WELLINGTON, This Day. The Legislative Councii met at 10.30 a.m. The Petroleum Bill, State Adance's Corporation Amendment Bill, DogRegistration Amendment Bill, Agriculture Workers Amendment Bill and Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill were received from the House of Representatives. Speaking to the second reading of the Petroleum Bill, Mr T. Mawhete referred to the rights of Maoris and said that the Maoris considered tfiey had a sacred right to all things appertaining to their land. He expressed the hope that the rights of Maoris would be given full consideration when the question of royalties was considered later. The measures wero passed and tho Council adjourned at 12.10 nntil Tuesday, March 1. -
