WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nasli, replying in the House to an urgent question by Mr. R. A. Wright as to whetker the Government was in a position Tiq state. what measure was being taken to protect the boot industry in New Zealand, said that negotiations were at present under way with representatives of the British Government, as to what proeedure should be followed that would be least uarmful to the United Kingdom and would do what the Government desired, to protect the footwear industry in New Zealand. Negotiations were aleo proceeding vvjth the Australian Government in connection with a new trade agreement with that country.
