Governor-General's Golf on Sunday

CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 7. "His Excellency wishes me to tell you that he much appreciates your letter, and that he thoroughly enjoyed the tournament. " This sentence in a brief- letter from Mr. D. E, Fouhy, official' secretary to the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway, causei satisfaction among members at a meeting of the executive of the .Christchurch Returned last evening." The letter referred to by Mr. Fouhy was one from the executive of the association "deprecating the action of the North Canterbury Methodist Synod in criticising unjustly the action of his " Excellcncy in attending a recent golf tournament held under -the auspices of the association," and expressing appreciation of his Excellency 's graciousness in attending the tournament.
