GARDEN PARTY GIVEN FOR BAIRD'S STAFF
A very delightful afternoon was spenfc by the staff of Baird's, on Thursday last, as the guests of -Mr and Mrs Hugh Baird, at a garden party at their residence, "Rossdhu," Tomoana road, Hastings. The guests, who included the wives of the married members of the staff, numbered aboid 45. The -beautiful garden was in its full summer glory, and mucn time was spent in admiration of tlie many lovely features it possesses, one of the greatest charms being the quietness and seclusion that has been obtained. ii^ planning the layout of the paths, lawns and tree-planting. ' Clock golf, ' teniquoit' . and tennis provided fun and enjo/ment for the various devotees of these pastime's. Afternoon tea was served in the shady arbors near the house, and the host and hostess, with the Misses Ailie and lassie Baird, were indefatigable in their atteiition to the comfort and requirements of the large party. The happy afternoon in a garden under ideal weather conditions, will long be remembered by all those present.
