WAIPAWA REGENT
"WINTERSET" TO-NIGHT. ' Maxwell Anderson 's grim and ,profoundly moving drama of the underworld, " Winterset,"^ screens at Waipawa on Wednesday. It is a truly great picture and liigh honours are due its malcers for the daring contribution to the roster of modern masterpieees of the screen. The picture opens briefly with the electrocution of a highminded radical for a crime that he did Bot commit. He leaves an infant son, and the boy grows to manhood possessed by the urge to clear his father's name. Drifting into New York he is drawn into the sordid circle that hides the answer to his prayer. Drawn there also is the judge who condemned his father. They find refuge in the cellar where lives one of the gang of the three who committed the murder. The other two track him there. There, under the grim shadow of Brooklyn Bridge, the battle of wills is fought out. The cast is of rarest excellenoe, and the characters are made unforgettably real and compelling. Burgess Meredith and Margo fill the two principal roles. Also showing is the full film story of the Louis-Braddoc.k fight.
