(By Telegraph-

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Inquiries prosecuted by the police have discounted any suggestion that the malicious diseharge of a rifle may. have .been responsible for tlie wounding of Francis Sandin, aged 20 years, who received an injury to his skull when he was struck hy a 'bullet at Papakura on Sunday afternoon. Sandin was milking cows on his father 's farm when a bullet struck hira on the head, lodging near the brain. It was removed, and he is making satisfactory progress.
