REGENT THEATRE
DSAEATOGA," Apart from any other cgnsideration, the appearance of "Saratoga" at the Jtegeat Theatre to-night tvill he bound to maka that theatre the Meeca for all lovers of the late Jean Harlow, in that the picture gives her last recorded appearance in the world of romance to which she had given so mueh distinction through the mediuin of her perforajances with Clark Gable in "China Seas,'3 "Hold Your Man," "Wife versus Secretary'3 and other stories of that kind. It is comiaon knowledge that the lovely aetress was sticken with fatal illnesa after haying played a portion of the picture, and that her xole was completed by an under-stndy. The public is aware that the part has been " doubled" in some of the seenes, but so cleverly has this ehange been handled that the most critical will have their doubts about just where the "double'3 comes in. "Saratoga" tells \the story of the danghter of a rich horse owner and a bookmaker, her father's friend, whom she hates and fights, then loves. Intrigues over "ringing' 3 bets, plot- and connterplot behind the seenes in the paddock, and finally, the sensational racing clixnax worked out on a new dramatic twist, keep the picture packed with aetion. Against this action the romantic stoiy is developed. Features of much more than ordinary interest are contained in the supporting programme, including a series of enthralling "Mareh of Timo33 itndies of current American and British internal problems. A travelogue deals with the grandeur of the Roeky Mountains, while "Roamii^- Holiday 3 3 is oue of the most entertainingly funny ■ketches yet provided by the boy "gang.33 It is an exeellent all-round programme.
