Mr Justice Blair's Visit to Britain INTEREST IN ROAD SAFETY

LONDON, Nov. 13. Mr Justice Blair, whose views ' on safety first are well-known in New Zealand, lias, with Mrs Blair, motored 8000 miles during his holiday in Great Britain. He has talked with Mr Leslie Burgin, Minister of Transport, with whorn he has discussed his formilla. of specd in fect a second as against miles an hour, and he ha broadcast from B.B.C. House on the same subject. He has also met the Commissioner of Police, Sir Philip Game, who has given instructions that the London Police are to teach the formula of "feet a second" in their "Safety First" lectures. . Some time was spent in Scotland, which Mr Justice Blair declares he "really came to' see." There he visited the Lirthplace of his parents, the Isle of Islay, and saw a great dee of tho country. In London Mr Blair met prominent people in the logal profession. He was entertaincd by Lords of tne Privy Council, and lunehed with Lord MacmiTlan, Lork Atkin, Lord Alness and Lord Maugham. He was invited by the ( Lord Chief Justice, Lord Hewart, to " visit with the Lords of the Privy Council

to Jisten to a-. appeal, an honour which he deelined. He also met several members of the High Court and many bart risters and solicitors at Lineoln's Inn, where he attended a number of dinners. At tho Guildhall and Mansion House he replied to toasts. During the Coronation period the Judge enjoyed a round of celebrations and festivities, and was allotted an excellent seat in the Abbey for the ceremony, from which he was able to see the King receiving homage after . he had been erowned. A visit was also paid to Paris for the exhibition. Mr Justice Blair ari Mrs Blair will arrived in the Dominion on January 10.
