Tbe Comprebensive proposals' for tbo erection of a new Central School provide for two buildings, and they are to be placed one bebind tbe otber at an angle, so as to face tbe main entrance on the corner of Karamu road and Sputhampton street. Tbe rear building is to be the infants' department and this is being erected by tbe Education Board. It ia to be of the pavilion type of building, wbicb is recognised now as being in accordance witb tbe latest trend of school arcbitee. ture. Witb plenty of windows on tbe soutb side, provision is made for tbe maximum of sunlight and fresb air to be enjoyed by tbe children. There will be a wide covered verandah in front, separated from the classrooms by sliding doors, so tbat, should the weather conditions be favourable, the classes can be moved on to tbe verandah. Tbe building is a self-contained unit, being centrally beated, and away from tbe main school building. It will contain four classrooms, though provision is made for an additional ciassroom if required at some future date, and there will be rooms for tbe teaching staff and separate conveniences. An opportunity to inspeet tbe plau3 and inspeet tbe Work in band will he afforded next Thursday afternoon when Parents' Day will be held at the school.
