Break-up Ceremony on Dec. 1 6

WAIPPAWA, Last Night. The monthly meeting of the Waipawa School Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs S. W. Strang, (chairman), V. A. Patterson (secretary), O. Page, G. Taylor, Mesdames Preston and A^eane, and the headmaster, Mr Adlam. It was reported that particulars ot the number of children who would partieipate in the milk supply had been given to the board. The headmaster reported as follows: Primary roll 205, average 197; secondary roll 66, average 61. Messrs Lewis and Lomas had paid a Visit of inspoction and the board architect had also inspected the school furniture. In connection with th© learn-to-swim week being held shortly throughout New Zealand, the headmaster reported that the borough had promised to assist in making the swimming pooJs safe. It was decided that the annual break up ceremony be held on the evetiing cf December 16 when musical items would be provided by the children and the public would be invited to attend. It was also Tesolved to ask Mr H. M. Christie, M.P., and Mrs Christie, to attend. The matter of prizes was left in the hands of Mr Adlam and the staff. The headmaster advised that during the learn-to-swim week opportunicy would be» taken of giving tuition to every child attending the school for an hour *ach day. The chairman said that considerable interest was being shown in the halfhour entertainment to be held on December 9 in aid of the ' school radio fund, and a number of teams had been entered.
