South Australia School Children Win Pen Friends
-ADELAIDE — Tbe encouragement of scbool children to correspond witb penf riends overseas bas led to a wide excbange of lettets. Tbe system bas been developed in tbe scbool in recent years and hundreds of children are now writing to pupils in otber countries. Letters from Adelaide go cbiefly , to the United States, Soutb Africa, Canada Englishspeaking islands scattered tbrougbout tbe globe, and Great Britain. In some instances scbolars are corresponding witb pen friends in' f oreign countries. China and Japan "frequently send beautiful art and craft work for exebange witb different sections of tbe Btate department's work. Austria and Poland. bave been supplied witb art specimens from Soutb Australia. Some of tbe children are sending packages of stamps to China, wbere they have a small market value and tbe proeeeds are devoted to charities.
