Arising out of the serious situation in the Far East, a rumour is in circulation to the effect that Japan, offlcially appointed hosts fgr the Olympic Games of 1940, may ask to be relieved of this responsibility, and that, in such circumstances, Brltain may be requested to step into the breach.. £ t t'
