WAIROA, Last Night. A fortunate escape from very serious injury befell Hr H. Pembertoii, wno* a big six-wheeler lorxy whieh he was driving went over the edge of the road on the Wairoa side of the Mohaka liiU early last evening. The lorry, whieh was carrying a load of steel, was owned by Mr M. B. Svonsen, of Waitoa. When the lorry camt, to rcst it was found that it had beca fairly extensively damaged. The ratliator was badly smashed, the mudguards twisted, and the cab stove in. Jt is praCtically cfertain tliat if the drivcr had ndfc jumped for safoty when his vehicle Ifeft tlie road, he would hav»i been killed inBtantaneously. Though badly shakon, he was uninjured.
