Wool Realisations at Napier Sale RETURNS TO GROWERS At Napier 12 months ago, 27,109 bales averaged 14.63d per lb., or £21 9/5.34 per bale. Two years ago the average was 8£d per lb. and £12 per bale. The average price at Auckland last week was' about lOd per lb. and £14 a bale. New Zealand seasonal averages since 1925-26 are given. below: —
The total offering .in New Zealand last season was 668,397 bales, and 663,789 bales were sold, the realisation being £14,903,275. It has been estimated that the average cost of production of crossbreds 44's, 46' s is 9d per lb., a conservative figure, with higher costs for the finer qualities of wool. Below that average and rougher wools cannot be sold, except at a loss. Yet between 1925 and 1935 such crossbred wools as are.Usually offered in Wellington liave been as low as '3jd per lb and as high as 20d' per lb, '
