Christchurch Support For Wellington Claim

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. SUpport was accorded by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at last evening's meeting to the efforts of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to ensure that Wellington sliall bo the New Zealand terminus of the proposed trans-Tasman air service, and shall be included in the itinerary Of the new C. and A. Line 22,000 ton ships. Al report submitted by tho transport committee stated that the first esSential for an air terminal was safety and the comfovt of passengers, and . any terminal in any centre should comply wtih these requirements. "From the national point of view, Wellington 's contral position gives it. a sound claim to consideration, in the interests of the whole population of the Dominion," said the report. "By reason of its position, Wellington would suit the South Island admirably as an kair terminal."
