AUCKLAND, Last Night. Carpiages of entirely new and greatly iniproved design are shortly to be put into commission on the Main Trunk service. The new second-class carriages, Wliich have been constructed at the raihvay workshops at Otahuhu, are expected to be in use before Christmas, but the first-class carriages will not be completed until early in the New Year. Roomier than their predecessors the new second-class carriages ar© 56 feet in lengfh, compared with 50 feet of those already in use. The vvidth will be approximately the same, but improved seating accominodation has been provided..
