5 W (From Our Own Correspondent.) Health Stainp Saies Beach £50. With the sale of health-stamps to the value of £5 by Misses M. Buchanan and S. McLauchlan at the entrance to the Waipukurau Post Office, the saies for Waipukurau have risen to a total of £50, a result fOr whieh volunteer ladies have been largely1 responsible. Croquet MatcheS. Croquet matches between C grade teams representing the Waipukurau, Napier and Port Ahuriri clubs were played on Tuesday. At Waipukurau Mesdames Stabler and Gallagher defeated a Port Ahuriri pair by 40 points to 2'2, and Mesdames J. Hopkinson and Dunlop won. their match against Napier players. At Port Ahuriri Mesdames Buchanan and Cummane defeated their opponents by 47 points to 28, and at Napier Mesdames Beid and Chambers lost their matches by 23 points to 52/ A Golfer's Humour. Jocular raEerences to the' Dannevirke Golf Olub's course at Tahoraiti, were made at the annual- meeting df the Waipukurau Golf Club by the president^ Mr A. M. Johnstone. "The Dannevirke Club 's course is in' a shocking state just now, ' ' he remarked. at one stagc. ' 'I lost ixve balls there and 1 know another member who lost nine. 5 5 Later in the meeting, discussing the need for watering, Mr Johnstone said: "Our greens at present are far better than Dannevirke ;s. I do not know whether they have water laid on — but I do know they had something else laid on when I was last there." Mr Johnstone did not explain when this was, but it, appeared from his remarks that he • had gained his knowledge of the course during the recent tournament there for returned soldiers.
