LIFE ON DAIRY FARM
Inquiry by Bureau of Social Science survey of various areas The Bureau of Social Science recently set up a hranch of the Department of Scientifio and Industrial llesearch to collect inf ormation from dairy farmers. The general purpose of the survey is to find out the living conditions of dairy farmers in New Zealand and data are being sought about problems of diet, housing, health, education, recreation and leisure, jvorking conditions, cost of living, cultural activities and social life. It- will obviously be iinpossible to collect the information from every ' dairy farmer in New Zealattd, and hence representative groups are being chosen in various parts of the Dominion, in particular in the North Auckland, the "Waikato, Taranaki and Southland. . f In each of these areas it is hoped 'to survey intensively several groups, and in this connection the advice has been sought of leaders in the dairy industry. The survey has no connection with any invostigations with regard tn the guaranteed price nor with any problem of taxation. .
