Sir, — Many of your readers were no doubt shocked to learn from a recent Press Association statement that' the number of deaths from drowning during the swimming months was double the number of deaths from road aceidents, and following the Hon. W. Parry ;s appeal regarding the National Learn-to-Swim Week it may interest the public to learn of the aTrangoraents made in this district by the Hawke's Bay Swimming Centre in conjunction with the Eoyal Life Saving Society. Tho Learn-to-Swim Week will commenGe on th'e 13th instant and experienced teachers will be available at all swimming baths to teach children and adults free of eharge. Arrangements are being made for adult pupils to be /put in eharge of an individual instruetor and the tuition hours will be made as convenient as possible. Persons wishing to avail - themselves of this offer can make the necessary arrangements by communicating with the custodian of any of the baths or with the secretaries of the following swimming clubs: — Napier, Te . Awa, Heretaunga, Havelock Nortb, Mahora, Gisborne, or the Eoyal Life Saving Society. — Yours, etc., A. I. EAINBOW (Cbairman), E. H.
