MUNICIPAL THEATRE
"THE GEBL FELEND" AND "BEYOND BENGAL." A brilliant array of talent bedeeks the new screen musical comedy, "The Girl Friend," which screens at the Hastings Municipal Theatre, to-night, The top name spots are illlcd by Ann Sothern and Jack Haley, stars of mapy Broadway suceesses and, within recent months, almost as many Hollywood ones. Eoger Pryor, anothgr actor who has had equal popularity on both stago and screen, heads the supporting casr, with Thurston Hall, Yictor Kilian anu Inez Oourtney contributing their share of gaiety to the picture. Three penniless Broadwayites who become invoJ ved in rural theatricals by impersonating a famous impressario and his assistants, provide the hilarious theme of the iilm. A stampede of farmyard animals breahs up their "premiere in a conyerted barn and consternatioi; reigns. The solutlon to their trpubles promises a fun-filling evening in the theatre. Thp gecond feature is tjtled "Beyond Bengal," a genuine drama of the jungle. There is a mad elephant stampede, a sengational native battle in a river literally alive with crocodiles, and a hundred and one bther pnbelievable thrills.
