WAIPUKURAU, Last Night.Tke annual Red Cross meeting in connection witk tke work at Pukeora Sanatorium was held in tke Oddfellows ' Hall, Waipukurau, tkis afternoon. Tke president, Mrs E. D. Rice, presided over a fair attendance of delegates from Waipawa, Pukehou, and Takapau. A number of letters of apologies were received, witk donations enclosed and oft'era of tropkies. Tke balance-skeet for tke 1936 fete was read and adopted. Mrs Rice, on behalf of tke Red Cross workers, congratulated Matron Inglis on tke recent konour conferred upon ker. Mrs Rice tken extended a cordial welcome to all present. and stated that tke object of tke meeting was to discuss tke qnestion of holding the annual Christmas fete at tke Sanatorium. It was proposed tkat tke usual fete we keld on December 15, starting at 1.15 p.m., including the usual programme of events, six competitions for tke outdoor patients and six for tke cot cases. Tke following were appointed a. sports committee: — Canoa E. D. Rice, Messrs I. W. N. Mackie, J. G. Stewart, L. Grant, H. Roach, L. Beachen, J. N. Barrie, Mesdames I. W. N. Mackie G. Williams, T. J. C. Warren, P. F. Wall, R. Tod, Misses Jull and/H. Hunter. It was decided to present first, second and tkird prizes for eaek event, and Mrs T. H. Lowry, Dominion president, is to be invited to present tke prizes on fete day. Members of tke Waipukurau, Hatuma. Takapau, Waipawa and. Otane Red Cross were appointed to make ■ arrangements for tke afternoon tea, for wkick donations of cakes wijl be gratefully reeeived. Tke Waipukurau Band kindly of?ered to supply musie during tke afternoon. At tke conclusion of the business Dr. P. C. Anderson stated that ke was glad to kave tke opportunity to express kis appreciati.on of tke work done by tke Red Cross. He tkanked tkose wko kad visited tke Sauatorium, especially tkose wko kad taken groups of patients out for tke afternoon in tkeir ears. He sincerely hoped tke visiting would continue during tke coming year, and ke wished tke fete every success. On being put to tke meeting, tke delegates expressed tkeir willingness to adkere to tkeir visiting days during tke coming year. Tke following donations were reeeived witk thanks: — Mrs L W* N.
