TWO MEN ARRESTED
Victorian Murder Mystery KILLING OF TRUCK-DRIVER (Eeeeived 30, 8.45 a.m.) MELBOTTBNE, Nov. 28. Two men have been arrested anrl charged with the murder of John Thomas Demsey, the truck-driver, whose body was found buried at Einglako West on November 2. The arrested men are Eoy McFarlane, aged 32, of Newmarket, and. Francis O'Keefe, aged 37, of Norlb Melbourne. O'Keefe was arrested in bed at midnight on Saturday and McFarlane wa? detained at Beaufort, 100 miles from Melbourne. The arrests-followed the most Intense and widespread investigation ln the history of the Victorian police. • Demsey was driving a truck carrymg wool, valued at £300, from Bendigo to, Melbourne on October 11, when he disappeared. There was no further news of him or the truck till the "truck was found accidentally by picnicker* hidden in dense bush at Kinglalca West, 42 miles from Melbourne, on November 1. The- following day the bodv was found buried in a sack near the truck. Police investigations were made in nearly every part of the State in an endeavour to trace the stolen wool O'Keefe and McFarlane were charged to-day with murdering Demsey. They were remanded until December 7 without bail.
