40-Foot Motor Cruiser

(From Our

TAUPO, Last Night. The successful launching of Mr. J. Blundell's forty-foot cruiser launch, the Lamorna, was completed to-day at 11 a.m. Owing to the fact that ' this vessel could not negotiate the bridge over the Waikato river at Taupo, it was necessary to adopt the difficult procedure of lauching her from the beach just opposite the Taupo wharf on the Waikato river. Owing to the steepness of the bank at this point and the shallow water, it was realised that this would be a very difficult task. After some considerable amount of anxiety, but splendid handling, the launch was got into the water without damage, but it was then found that, owing to the damage done to the paint work by the chafihg of ropes on the lorry, it was considered advisable to haul the vessel up on the Taupo launch slip to renew the painting on the hull. It is a xecogniSed fact that, this being the largest launch on the Taupo lake, something out of the ordinary was aehieved in launching her without mishap. It is expected that the trial run on the lake will take place during the week-end. Fishing during the past week has been very quiet as very few anglers are now in the district, but quite a large number are expected during the coming week.
