Croquet Matches. Matches between Waipukurau and Port, Ahuriri A grade croquet teams were played on Friday. At Napier the Waipukurau leam — Mesdames T. Given, W. G. Bryce, C. J. Bendeich and J, Butler — lost by 59 points to 96, and at Waipukurau the home team— Mr Hindman, Mrs Ricketts, senr., Mrs E. W. Taylor and Miss N, Main — won by 85 points to 79. The C grade teams %ill play home and away matches tomorrow. Waipukurau Stop-Bank. Good progress is being made with me stop-bank by the Tukituki river at Waipukurau. This work is being carried out by the Waipukurau Borough Council in conjunction with the Public Works Department as a safeguard against fioodmg. A high bank has been ereoted between the railway brid^e at d the traffie bridge in Herbert street, Waipukurau. Waipukurau Church's Anniversary. Special services were held yesterday to mark the 72nd anniversary of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Chnrch, Waipukurau. The Rev. John Hubbard, M.A.^ D.D., of Palmerston North, conducted the morning and evening services, and during the afternoon he preached at Hatuma. Special rauBic was rendered by the choir. Band Plays at Waipukurau, The Waipukurau Municipal Band played in Ruataniwha street, Waipukurau, ou Saturday eveuiug and played selections at the District Hospital yesterday. PupiflB Butertain Parents, The secondary pUpils at tue waipukurau High Sebool provided a musiCal programme at the final of the school social evenings for the year, when a large number of parents were presOnt. The items given were as folldw: — Mouth-organ duet, Nola Mathieson and Nancy Ward; violin solo, Betty McRae; song with ukulele accompaniment, Wendy Brown; song, Phyllis Tappin; step dance, Laurie Thorburn. A play was also presented by the schbol dramatic club, and three items were given by the school choir. Mr B. M. Marshall was in charge of the games, and music for the dancing was provided by Mesdames McRae and Thorburn. Russell Park Cricket. As it is understood that the Waipukurau Borough Council is agreeable to the mowing of the outfield at Russell Park so as to provide four cricket wickets, the deputation from the cricket clubs concerned, which was to have met the council, will uot bo necegsary.
