THE TE MATA PARK
Steady Progress with Roading Steady progress continues with the extension of the roadway through Te. Mata Park to the Peak at Havelock North, but the work will not be coinpleted before the coming holiday period. The work now has reached a stage when more rapid progress can be made. " Recently the strength of the gang of men employed on the work was increased and now numbers 14 or 15. The men have been divided into .three parties, each working at different points of the propoSed roadway. The greater portion of the hard work, which requifed the use of explosives, has been completed and it is not expected that mucn more blasting will be necessary to finish the task. During the week-end a number of parties visited the park and general satisfaction was expressed with the work that 'the Te Mata Trust Board is undertaking in the development of this area, quite apart from its roading programme. The various plantations appeared to be thriving splendidly and many of the areas already alford* some conception of what a wonderful asset Te Mata Park is likely to prove to be for the district in the .years to come.
