GARDEN PARTY HELD AT THE HOME OF DR. AND MRS. CROMPTON
"Te Puna," the home of Dr. and Mrs K. E. Crompton, Duart road, Havelock North, was the scene of a very successful garden party on Saturday afternoon, organised by Mrs J. B. Campbell and Miss Christina Williams on behalf of the Havelock North branch of the National Party in the Waipawa electorate. The weather was ideal for a garden party, and though there were maify attractions during the afternoon, most of the visitors found timo to admire the garden, which was looking beautiful. The opening address was given by Colonel James Hargest, M.P., and was listened to with very great interest. The address was followed by an exhibition of daneing charmingly given by the pupils of the Misses Patston and Grantham, of the Barrie Studio, 'Hastings. A variety of stalls was set about the garden, and all did good business during the afternoon. ThO st^ll-holders were as fallow: — Flower stall, Miss- O. Nairn and Miss MacFarlane; sweet stall, Mrs H. Toogood, Mrs W. van Asch and Miss Mary van Aseh and Mrs R. C. Williams; cake stall, Mrs A. R. Greenwood, Mrs W. Bridgman and Mrs Antony Reeve; parcel stall, Mrs A. Christie; work stall, Mrs W. N. Barron and Mrs Turner Williams; bran tub, Misses Rosemary Greenwood, Ceeil Crompton and Miriam Hunter; ieecream, Messrs Bern&rd Chambers and Douglas Nairn; afternoon tea tickets, Mrs H. N. Coleman and Miss Helen Coleman, Miss Catherine Crompton. Afternoon tea was arranged in a large marquee and was much appreciated on such a hot afternoon. Among the many present were:— Dr. and Mrs K.
