FAR EAST RELIEF FUND
Appeai To Sympathies of New Zealanders The chairman of the Far East Relief Committee has issued a statement. on behalf of the Joint Couneil of the Order of St. Jofin and the New Zealand Red Cross Society sayiug that the work of organising this appeai will end on November 30, although, as the result of organisation, it is hoped that. a considerable sum wili be received alter the otlkial eiosing date. Xhio appeai is the first made by tlie Joint Council* and g, similar appeai is being uiade in other parts of the Empire. Ifc is fully recognised, says the statement, that there are many objects worthy of our beuevolenco in our own country, but tbe appeai lrom the East is eo overwhelnungly piteous that it appears irresistible. The Joint Council hopes to send medical men, clotliuig, drugs and dressings to the East. I here are few people in New Zealand who, if they feel deeply for the frighttul sufferijjjr and heJplessness of our fellow creatures in Cbina, cannot give baff-a-crown as a sigu and symbol ot their benevolenee. Donation may be seiit tq the nearest braneh of the St. John's Ambulanoe Association, N.Z. Red Cross Society or to the office of the Herald-Tribune
