LONDON, Noy. 26. • Sir Samuel Hoa- j, in the House of Commons debate on the Air-Raids 'PreCautioiu Bill, revealed that the Committee. of' Imperiai 'Defence was working out plans for the" evaeuatiou of civilians from London and Britain's other large eities in case it was considered necessary in the event of war. ; The Daily Mail points out that this is the first disclosure that the Government is cousidering large-scale evacua"tion as a defensive measure against aiTraids. Sir Samuel said that eertain plans were already in existence, but the Gov,ernment intended to make them more comprehensive. "Wo will have rfiem ready for any emergency should one arise. It will rest with the Government tc say when they" will be put into operation." As soon as the Bill became law the Government intended to have a much more active ssytem of training, including more " hlackouts" over the country 's prineipal areas.
