ORMONDVILLE'S BIRTHDAY

The Ormondville^ Women's lustitute beld its sixtb biruiday pai ip. the Peace Memorial Hall. The liall was filled, neighbouring institutes being well represented. The main hall was artisticaily decorated with red, wliite and blue streamers and balloons. In the supper-room red, green and gold 'streamers (the institute colours) were iuteriaced across the ceiling. The firoceedingsi opened with the singing of the Institute song, after which the president, Mrs. H. R. J3ei1bow, we'lcomed the visitors. Little Aisla 'l'rask presented Mrs. Benbow with. an artistic houqnet. The following programme was suhmitted to a most appreciative andience : A one-act eomedy entitled "The Dear Departed,'' the eharacters being por-t-rayed as follows : Mrs. Slater (Mrs. A. Anderson), Victorja (Miss Edna Raines), Henry Slater (Mr. H. O. Baines), Mrs. Jordan (Miss Ella Brabazon), Ben Jordan (3Ir. F» Carnie), Abel Merry weather (Mr. P. Smalley), and Patsy Oates, a clever little dancer, performed a couple of dances in character, which were much appreciated. A Haiwaiian guitar solo was given by Mr. ■ G. Studd. Little Gwen Peadman delighted the audience with a couple of songs ;in character. Zita. Smalley gave a good exliibition of Indian club-swing-ing, The programme concluded with a one-act play, "Get Out of Your Cage," the cast being as follows: — Miss Drear (Mrs. E. Port), Miss Hope (Mrs. H. Howes), Miss Meek (Mrs. C. William), Miss Legge (Mrs. W. A, Trask), Angele Caemmaerts (Mrs. Onslow Baines), Miss Duquesne (Mrs. H. R. Benbow). After an appetising home-made supper had been dispensed, an enjoyable dance was held, excellent music being supplied by Mr. W. Te Tau (piano) and Mr. Gordon Chapman (violin).
