MISS BATTEN HONOURED
(Received 26, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 24. The New Zealand airwoman, Mise Jran Batten, had tea with the Lora Mayor and LMy Mayoress at Mansion House. Those present inclilded Viscount Wakefield and Mrs W. J. Jordan. "It is impossible adequately to pay tribute to this great woman who has done so much for civilisation," said Lord Semphill, in toasting Miss Batten at the annual dinner of the Women's Automobile Sports Olub, "for her achievcments have added glory to the women pioneers of avidtion. Her's and Flying-Ofiicer Clouston's feats are an honour to New Zealand." Those pres- nt at this gathering included Sir Malcolm Campbell, Lieut.- * Colonel Moore-Brabazon, who mad'o the first flight in an aeroplane in England, and Miss Amy Johnston.
