PALMEESTON N., Last Night. Drinking and danees were discussed at the sessions of the Hawke's BayManawatu distriet Methodist Synod, when the Eev. R. E. Fordyce brought forward the following resolution, which was adopted: "That Synod urges the Conference to approach the Government with a view to the granting of wider powers to the police to enable them to control more efficiently the supplying and drinking of intoxicating liquor in veJiicles in the vicinity of the dance halls, wth a view to checking the "mseemiy conducfc often assoeiated with public danceBt,"
