To taste the fruits of success as an opera star or enjoy esctacy in love's retreat is the problem facing Lily Pons, the renowned diva, in her second starring musical comedy, "That Girl from Paris/' screening at the Waipawa Regent on Saturday and Monday. , Gene Raymond and Jack Oakie are in other starring roles. The diminutive singer plays the title heroine who deserts her iiianager at the altar and pursues a handsome young American to his country. Here she encounters a series of hectie experiences which lands her in gaol, into love with two men and finally marriage with one of her suitors. Miss Pons presents to motion picture audienees the widest variety of music ever brought. to the screen in one f eaturd. She sings three popular songs written by Arthur Schwartz and Eddie Heyman, she /swings" Johann Strauss's "The Blne Danube Waltz" to a brilliant new arrangement, she sings "Tarantella," and to top it all off she renders the beautiful aria, "Una Voco Poeo Fa " " from { ' The Barber of Seville" by Bosisini.
